Booklets (Stations of the Cross) entitled "Peter's Jouney with Christ to Calvary" and "Judas' Way of the Cross" both written by Fiona Haines are available in paperback price £4.99 each. In addition a new coloured booklet of meditations entitled "Images of our Healing" has been pubished by popular demand, (Price £3). We also have copies of Fiona'a first novel entitled "You Judas", (Price £6.99). Any of these publications would be ideally suitable as a gift and/or as a personal meditation aid at any time during the year. Please email any request to purchase a copy of any of these publications by using the address on our "Contact Us Page".
Stewardship Challenge
We continue to give thanks to God for the positive response we have received as we strive to meet the parish's financial commitments. We give thanks also for the continued increase in groups wishing to use our multi-purpose building - thereby benefiting the income of the parish. Both our Autumn Fair in October and our Christmas Stalls and Table Top Sale were most encouraging and between them raised £1,500 for Church Funds.
Ministry of Healing
The feasibilty study is assuming great importance and our courses for 2012 will be limited and a course programme will be issued in mid January.
Feasibility Study
Please pray for us as we carry out a feasibilty study to decide upon the future development of our building. It is envisaged that an addition to the present building be made to establish a residential centre for the Healing Ministry. Such a building would allow individuals to stay on site for Courses/Retreats/Quiet Days. This facility would be open to a wide geographical area encompassing the Diocese and indeed the whole of the North West of England. It would also require limited staffing for administration and catering. As at 16th December the study is ongoing; a plan of the possible building has been completed; it is envisaged that the new build will cost circa £420,000; we are reliably informed that it will qualify to be exempt VAT; detailed plans for planning permission are currently nearing completion. A pre planning meeting was held with a member of the Planning Department of Blackpool Council and the outcome has been most encouraging. An appeal will be eventually be launched to assist in the funding of a "start up fund" to allow us to proceed to full planning permission. Funding for the project continues to be paid for on a private basis.
Fact Finding Tour
Our Fact Finding Tour from 23rd to 27th May proved most informative. The centres that we visited, those whom we met, in Kent (Burrswood),the Canterbury Diocese (The Living Well), East Sussex (Crowhurst), Hampshire (The Acorn Christian Foundation) were most helpful and supportive. We are compiling a detailed report to help us in our continuing feasibility study which now concerns the submission of our plans for the new build to our Local Planning Authority - see elsewhere in "What's New"
New Member of the Ministry Team
We are happy to announce that we have been further blessed with an addition to our Ministry Teaching Team. The Revd Dr Carol Wilkinson, who up until this point has acted as our "critical friend" [attending our courses and keeping us on our "toes" with criticism of our course material and presentation skills-always constructive advice] has found time, in spite of her full time professional job as an accountant in a local accountancy firm, to join us. Although a Tutor with the Lancashire and Cumbria Theological Partnership (LCTP), (Liturgy and Preaching), in what spare time she already had, she has kindly agreed to join us to lighten our load especially as we become, hopefully, more heavily involved with our projected "new build" detailed elsewhere. We bid her a very warm welcome.
